Story – France – soldier buried ex cemetery

  • Not Catholic – friends move fence at night

  • All included – who makes room for you?

  • Do we include others? Do we move fences?

  • Yes in tough moments, then return

Skip for a moment – Lent – end is not fast – penitence

  • These are means (good)

  • Goal of Lent – transformation – different person

  • Radical change of mind and heart

  • Things given up – change that lasts

  • Robber – give up cigars for Lent

Jesus moves fences of society – brings walls down

  • Sam. Woman (no name) shunned by others

  • Alone at noon – sees Jesus, no talk

  • Woman gives advice – one for money...

  • Sam has 5 husbands – no judgement, criticism

  • Changes life – who give life for? – little by little

Sam thirsty for Jesus’ water – easy fix – if only....

  • Thirst for love, acceptance, friendship

  • Have you been thirsty? For what?

  • Lucy – happy and still in right mind?

  • Grandson in choir – hear his voice?

  • Hear voice of God in daily life – at our well?

Is Lord here or not? Israel groans, complains

  •  golfer – be saved, get on the ball

  • Jesus enables Sam to get out of isolation

  • Gets on the ball – first disciple – risk – left jug

  • Jesus sees beyond what others see – in us!

  • Moses breaks rock – water – Jesus breaks our rock

  • Gratitude – be happy, going someplace

Cardinal Cushing – ancestors on the Mayflower? Walked over

  • Peanuts – what will you be when you grow up – outrageously happy

  • Move the fences!
