Part 7 of Fr. Fred Scinto's Background & Reflections on the 2015 Synod

We continue with the two motu proprio of Pope Francis. “The Gentle Judge, the Lord Jesus”. “The Meek and Merciful Jesus”. These two documents emphasize Christ’s mercy and meekness. These changes are designed to streamline the process out of “concern for the salvation of souls” (Francis) while keeping Catholicism’s traditional ban on divorce (the breaking up or breaking apart of a real marriage).

Part 6 Appendix for Fr. Fred Scinto's Synod Reflections about Pope Francis for People in the Pew

The flashpoints at the present Synod are divorced and remarried Catholics and the Eucharist, and the question of homosexuality; however we need to remember that the 2015 Synod is on the family, a much wider topic.
