This Synod’s work, recommendations, fall-out, and consequences will be with us for a long time! The Church is going to be different from now on!
The following content is not dependent on the Synod still being in session but constitutes a natural wrap-up and conclusion to what we began in PART 1 of this series.

We began our look at the dynamics and processes being used in the present Synod. Here we continue our study/reflection with what comes next.
We continue with the two motu proprio of Pope Francis. “The Gentle Judge, the Lord Jesus”. “The Meek and Merciful Jesus”. These two documents emphasize Christ’s mercy and meekness. These changes are designed to streamline the process out of “concern for the salvation of souls” (Francis) while keeping Catholicism’s traditional ban on divorce (the breaking up or breaking apart of a real marriage).
The flashpoints at the present Synod are divorced and remarried Catholics and the Eucharist, and the question of homosexuality; however we need to remember that the 2015 Synod is on the family, a much wider topic.
