As followers of Jesus we are 'in' the world, but not 'of' the world.  St. Paul speaks of this reality, because our virtues and values are not those of the secular world in which we live.  In relation to this Sunday's gospel, we are called to reflect on our position in society as citizens.  Sometimes we keep 'the world' at a distance, to not be contaminated.  But, how then can we influence the world?  How can we bring the love and truth of God to others?  We have a place in the world, to "teach the way of God in accordance with the truth".  As we Resurrectionists are called to work for the resurrection of society, we must exercise our spiritual 'muscle' to bring the love and truth of Jesus Christ into the world he came to save.  We are a part of that history of salvation, as active participants and agents, not as observers.  Let us accept this challenge!
