Reflection by:
Father Paul Voisin
Stewardship is an important developing theology in Catholicism. It has always been central to so much of the teachings of Jesus, but it has been articulated by the Church in a deeper way in the recent past. We have been entrusted by God with ‘time, talents and treasure’ to be used wisely to contribute to the building up of the kingdom of God. Many of the parables of Jesus reveal stewards who have been unfaithful. Their ‘end’ is regrettable, but it was their choice, the consequences of their actions. Jesus assures us that those “who can be trusted in little things can be trusted in great”, and I am sure that we all want to be counted among those faithful stewards, seeking God’s graces and blessings. Let us reflect on what we have been entrusted with by God, and how faithful we are in being a wise and prudent steward.
