Bob Sproule, Apostle of the Resurrection

Who is this person, Jesus Christ?  The gospel reading is very explicit, “He existed before me” as John the Baptist proclaimed; and further stated, “I have seen and testified that He is the Son of God”.  He is more than a man, more than a great prophet.  This reading reminds us of this, which is of central importance to our faith and what distinguishes our faith from all others.

In the first reading from Isaiah, we are reminded of what God proclaimed, “I will make you (Jesus Christ) a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth”.

And Paul also in his 1st Letter to the Corinthians states, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ”.  This statement explicitly implies the relationship between God and Christ, they are one and the same.

It is our faith that allows us to say we believe, even though our mind may not be able to fully comprehend how this is.  So, what will we choose to do, how will we choose to behave, today, if our faith is true to these proclamations?  How will we work for the resurrection of society?  By living by the words of God and Jesus Christ and by taking advantage of the Holy Sacraments.
