800th Anniversary of the Nativity Scene

This year we celebrate the 800th anniversary of the first nativity scene, which was created by St. Francis of Assisi in Greccio, Italy.  The first nativity scene was enacted by real people, and this year the Pope’s nativity scene in the Vatican pays tribute to this history.
