Today, October 4th, is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis is one of the most recognizable saints worldwide, with Christians of all denominations, and many non-Christians as well, knowing at least a little about this humble saint. Patron Saint of Ecology; one who preached to all God’s creatures, including animals; Saint who penned the famous Peace Prayer; bearer of the stigmata; man who gave up the wealth of his family to fund his ministry and serve the lepers and outcasts.
Francis of Assisi was also a man who celebrated his faith, and took great joy in proclaiming the Gospel wherever he went. Much like their patron saint, the people of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Kitchener, one of our Resurrectionist parishes, find great joy in creation, in helping their neighbours and in celebrating their faith.
