October 4th is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Orders, Patron Saint of Ecology, and Patron of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Kitchener.
The statue by Timothy Schmalz on the front lawn of the church is entitled Francis in Exaltation and depicts St. Francis dancing for joy! If you are looking for a parish community, visit St. Francis Parish, at 49 Blueridge Ave. Kitchener, and meet the joyful, caring, welcoming members of this faith community.
This parish is inspired by St. Francis’ love of creation, and has built a community garden, Indigenous Reconciliation Garden, rain garden, peace garden and more. They offer a Blessing of the Animals on Oct 4. Caring for all God’s creation – nature, animals and people – defines this parish community.
