Profession of First Vows

Welcome back to Tanzania!

Nine young men from Tanzania completed their year-long novitiate in Buhemba under the direction of their Novice Master, Fr. Andrzej Duda, C.R. Fr. Maciej Braun, C.R., who is the pastor of St. John Paul II Parish and the director of the Resurrection schools in Buhemba, was appointed by our Superior General, Fr. Evandro Miranda Rosa, C.R., to receive the first vows of these young men.

Fr. Andrzej and with Fr. Maciej with a diocesan priest who joined the celebration.

The candidates for first profession gathered outside the church in preparation.

Pictured here are Anord, Audax, Cleophace, Alexander, and Emmanuel.

Important parts of the ceremony are for those professing first vows to receive a copy of the Constitutions of the Congregation of the Resurrection and a cassock and cincture, which comprise the religious habit of Tanzanian Resurrectionists.

The church is full, and the candidates are lined up and ready to begin!

Each young man undertaking his first vows, professes: “I, NAME, in the presence of Almighty God, of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary and of all the saints of the Lord and before you, Father, vow to God for one year chastity, poverty and obedience in this Congregation of our Lord Jesus Christ according to its Constitutions. May God help me to keep faithfully this commitment.”

After the profession of vows, each new member receives a copy of the Constitutions of the Congregation of the Resurrection, as well as the habit.

It is a joyful moment for family and friends when the new members dress for the first time in their cassock and cincture.

Congratulations to our new Resurrectionists in Tanzania!

4th Sunday of Easter – April 26, 2026

This day, as we pray for those who have already answered the call to be shepherds in the church, let us pray also that we may each be open to the vocation God has planned for us…

World Day of Prayer for Vocations – Good Shepherd Sunday

Along with commemorating Christ’s role as our shepherd, we celebrate and pray for shepherds in the Church. Accordingly, the Church joins together this Sunday to pray in a special way for priests and vocations to the priesthood.
