The Transformative Potential of Every Vocation

A Resurrectionist Vocation Minute for December 7, 2nd Sunday of Advent

John the Baptist’s vocation reminds us of the distinctiveness and transformative potential of every vocation. Because God calls us, our response, modest as it may be, can open hearts and produce surprising results.
Isaiah envisions a world marked by such surprising transformation – lambs hosting wolves, lions grazing with calves. His remarkably tranquil vision is a result of divine justice being wrought through God’s people responding generously to their call from God. And, as Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans, that call lies at the heart of the Church’s life.
We invite and welcome others into a relationship with Christ and his Church, because Christ extended the same call to us first.
