The World Day for Consecrated Life is celebrated every February 2nd, on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.
The purpose of this day is “to help the entire Church to esteem ever more greatly the witness of those persons who have chosen to follow Christ by means of the practice of the evangelical counsels” [poverty, chastity and obedience] as well as “to be a suitable occasion for consecrated persons to renew their commitment and rekindle the fervour which should inspire their offering of themselves to the Lord”. (Saint John Paul II, 1997)
This year, the Diocese of Hamilton was blessed to celebrate the installation of our new Bishop, Bishop Joseph Dabrowski, CSMA earlier today. What a wonderful way to celebrate!
All vowed members of the Congregation of the Resurrection are living out the Consecrated Life. On this day we give thanks for the blessings and graces received by the living out of the evangelical counsels. We invite you to read a message from the Dicastery for Consecrated Life, addressed to consecrated persons, but which helps to illustrate the challenges and graces of this vocation.
