Resurrection Gala 2026
On April 16 we gathered for the third annual Resurrection Gala, a celebration of the Congregation of the Resurrection, of our Charism and Mission, and especially of all the people who make up and support the Resurrectionists. We were blessed to welcome Brother and Priest Resurrectionists, lay Apostles of the Resurrection, family members of Resurrectionists, members of our Lay Advisory Committee, major Benefactors of the Congregation, key community collaborators, employees from Resurrection College and Manor, special guest Bishop Wayne Lobsinger, and guest speaker Dr. Peter Meehan, president of St. Jerome’s University. It was a joyful evening filled with people from all walks of life, gathered by their common purpose, to work for the Resurrection of Society!
Fr. Tim Uniac, CR, in his homily at Mass, spoke about the many uncertainties we face in our daily lives. Even Jesus’ Apostles faced uncertainties which challenged their faith. But with all the confusion and fear that uncertainty can bring, we can always be certain that God loves us unconditionally, and that when the time of judgement comes, God will judge with mercy and love. As Resurrectionists our Charism is rooted in God’s unconditional love for us sinners, and our certain conviction that we can all experience salvation, if we simply accept God’s love into our hearts and our lives.
Dr. Meehan, in his talk after our wonderful dinner, spoke about the legacy Resurrectionists have built through St. Jerome’s University. St. Jerome’s is embarking on a new initiative, the first of its kind in the world, honouring the late Pope Francis, and building on his pastoral legacy. The Pope Francis Institute will launch in the fall of 2026, and will focus on dialogue, reaching out to those in the peripheries, and creating leaders who know how to go out and meet people where they are, shepherds who are proud to walk amongst their sheep.
