On Friday, May 1, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, our three first-year theology seminarians—Cleophace, Jerome, and Audax—received the ministry of lector and our two second-year theology seminarians—Livinus and Valentino—received the ministry of acolyte. The celebration was held at Jordan University College Chapel, with Bishop Stephano Lameck Musomba, O.S.A. presiding. Bishop Musomba is the bishop of the newly created Diocese of Bagamoyo. This diocese is comprised of parts of the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam and the Diocese of Morogoro and was created in March 2025.
All the rectors of the various communities were present, as were many of the faculty members in the Theology Department.
First, each of the candidates for the ministry of lector and the ministry of acolyte were called forward, responding, “Present.”
After the homily, each was installed with their new ministry. There were about 150 seminarians for the ministries.
I had a good vantage point for taking the photos…I think Jerome noticed me!
After the ceremony, we had a chance to congratulate people and take photos.
In the evening, we had a wonderful celebration to mark the occasion of ministries.
