Can You Love Christ Above All?

A Resurrectionist Vocation Minute for June 28, 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Can you love Christ above all?

Jesus is not asking for a divided heart. In today’s Gospel, He calls us to place Him above every attachment, even the deepest human relationships. This is a challenging message, because it reminds us that following Christ will always require a real choice.
A vocation begins here: with the courage to say that Jesus is the center of my life, and that nothing else can take His place. Are you ready to let Christ be first in your heart?

“Although God’s love for us is the basis of an authentic Christian spirituality, it is not a truth we easily arrive at and personally experience. Thus, in the very first article, our Constitutions refer to God’s love as “the most fundamental fact of our lives,” and then continue to explain how a lifelong process is required in order to understand and experience it with our mind, will, heart, and emotions. The possibility exists for our experience of God’s love to surpass our experience of all other loves extended to us. This is true because that is the very nature of God’s love for us.”
