Sunday Reflections - Congregation of the Resurrection

14th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 9, 2023

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

“Whoever receives you receives me”. What a powerful affirmation of God’s connection to each and every one of us.

I write this reflection in Rome during the 34th General Chapter of the Congregation of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus, in His wisdom, chose twelve disciples to become his apostles. He would share with them His life, and eventually His ministry.

This Sunday on the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity. The Trinity is one of the most mysterious aspects of Christian faith.

“Come Holy Spirit, fill the heart of your faithful, and enkindle in us the fire of your love.

There is a story about a group of Allied soldiers, during the Second World War, passing through a village in France.

In the readings (John 14:15-21) for the Sixth Sunday after Easter, Jesus prepares the Apostles for His imminent departure

Mary Magdalene could have found a note pinned on the tomb which read: “Gone home for a little bit, be back soon to take you with me, love, Jesus.”
