Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

September 15 is the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, one of the community Feast Days for the Congregation of the Resurrection.

Resurrectionist Constitutions:

God has honored Mary by choosing Her to be the Mother of our Savior. She is also the Mother of the Church, which is His body. In our tradition, we have claimed Her as the Mother of our Congregation and have been dedicated to promoting Her honor. She is the model of what salvation is for each of us.
In Her Immaculate Conception, She was freed from sin.
As the Mother of Sorrows, She shared in the sufferings of Her Son.
In Her Assumption, She was raised up to share in the risen life of Jesus.
If we follow Her as our model, we learn to share in the passion, death and resurrection of Her Son and we too will be freed from sin and will share in His new life in the Spirit.

One of the Parishes administered by the Congregation of the Resurrection in Ontario is
St. Mary, Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows Parish in downtown Kitchener. Today is their feast day too!
It is particularly appropriate that Our Lady of Sorrows is this parish’s patron saint,
as St. Mary’s focuses much of their resources and energy
sharing in the sufferings of those around them who are in need, and supporting them in those needs.
We invite you today to learn more about St. Mary’s Parish through the video tour and link below.
