Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Apostle to the Apostles

Today is the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Disciple of Jesus, First to Whom the Risen Lord Appeared,
Apostle to the Apostles, and Patroness of the Apostles of the Resurrection.
On this day we welcome four new Apostles of the Resurrection to our Lay Association, and we celebrate all the Apostles renewing their Promises.  May we continue to work together with the vowed Resurrectionists for the renewal of society and the transformation of all God’s children.
St. Mary Magdalene, Pray for Us!

Regardless of all the confusion over the years surrounding the identity of Mary Magdalene there is one thing that we can say about her with absolute certainty. Mary Magdalene was a friend of Jesus, standing by his side all the way to the cross. All four Gospels make this fact known to us. The Gospel of Mark tells us she was the first to witness the empty tomb. The Gospel of John says the same, but also says she was commissioned by Jesus to announce the Good News. Later early Christian texts gave to Mary Magdalene the status of Apostle. This is the woman we celebrate and embrace on her Feast Day.
