Funeral of Fr. Murray McDermott, CR

On Wednesday, September 2, we celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial to bid farewell to our brother Resurrectionist, Fr. Murray McDermott, CR at the age of 78, in his 59th year of religious life and 50th year of ordained priesthood.

Fr. Jim Link, CR, a seminary classmate of Fr. Murray, preached at his Prayer Vigil the night before, and shared many stories of Fr. Murray’s compassion, especially to those he worked with at the Children’s Aid Society and L’Arche.

Fr. Paul Voisin, CR, who grew up with Fr. Murray and has known him for more than 60 years, presided and preached at the funeral Mass, and reminded us how much Fr. Murray cared, for his family, his religious community and all of the people he ministered to and with over the years. Fr. Murray recognized the Risen Lord in each person, and helped them to recognize their own value, just as they are; each of us as children of God.

May Fr. Murray now experience the peace and eternal joy of the Resurrection.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
