The Congregation of the Resurrection announces the death of Father Pasquale Patrick (Pat) Aiello, CR on June 20, 2026, of Resurrection Manor, Waterloo. He was in his 96th year of life, in his 77th year of religious life and 70th year of ordained priesthood.
Father Aiello is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Giulia (nee Aceti) Aiello, brother Gaetano (Ida), nieces Anita Aiello, Andrea Aiello and nephew Stanley Aiello. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his brother Philiberto (Lena), cousins Mario & Elvira Aiello, nephew Joe (Shirley) and nieces Giulia Bittle (Gary) and Gina Aiello, many great, and great-great nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.
Fr. Pat professed his religious vows in the Congregation of the Resurrection on September 8, 1949 in Dundas and was ordained to the ministerial priesthood on September 22, 1956 in London.
Fr. Pat began his ministry by teaching at North Bay College, North Bay and then at St. John’s College, Brantford. Fr. Pat acted as Rector of Resurrection College Seminary. He ministered as Pastor of St. Pius Parish, Brantford, St. Aloysius Parish, Kitchener, and in Bermuda at St. Theresa’s Cathedral, Hamilton and St. Anthony Parish, Warwick. He served as Assistant Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Kitchener. Fr. Pat first retired to North Fort Myers, Florida in 2005, and then to Resurrection Manor, Waterloo in 2012.
Fr. Pat was a member of a number of committees within the Congregation and House Superior for Florida and Resurrection Manor Canonical Houses.
A man of deep faith, hope and love, Fr. Pat’s life of faithful service touched the lives of his parishioners, brother religious, and family during his life of dedicated ministry. Fr. Pat was a “man of action”, believing in getting things done in a timely manner and he was very dedicated in looking after his fellow Manor members’ many needs. Even in the weeks before his passing Fr. Pat was still providing Spiritual Direction and prayer ministry, and we will miss his steady presence.
We wish to express our gratitude to Dr. John Sehl, Dr. Laura Gregor and the medical staff at WRHN at Midtown and Queen’s Blvd Hospitals for the compassionate care they provided to Fr. Pat over the years.
Visitation of Father Aiello will take place at St. Mary, Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Parish, 56 Duke St. W., Kitchener, ON N2H 3W7, on Thursday, June 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 8:00 pm. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 8:00 pm. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Parish at 10:00 am on Friday, June 26. Interment will take place immediately afterwards, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener. Reception to follow at Resurrection Manor, 265 Westmount Rd. N., Waterloo, ON N2L 3G7.
