On September 15, we welcomed 12 young men who are “aspiring” to join the Tanzanian Mission of the Congregation of the Resurrection. This is a new stage in formation that Rome refers to as the “propaedeutical” year. This latin word means an introductory or preparatory year that will serve as a foundation for later years of the study of Philosophy and Theology.
Fr. Daniel Hinc, C.R. recently finished his three-year appointment as rector of our new candidates in this first year of formation. He has been succeeded by Br. Mosses Katikiro, C.R. who has just begun his new three-year appointment as rector. As part of his preparation for this new role, Br. Mosses recently accompanied Fr. Jim Donohue to Rome this summer for the Resurrectionists’ formators conference that took place June 2-June 16.
All of these young men have recently finished six years of secondary school, and a few have completed some introductory college certificates. They follow a schedule of morning, midday, and evening prayer, as well as afternoon devotions, and the rosary and litany each day. The aspirants have classes on the history and spirituality of the Congregation of the Resurrection, classes on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and classes on the study of English, both spoken and written.
Emmanuel Julius Mwita is 19 years old. He is from Geita diocese, and he wants to be a Priest. Diof Jeremiah Kibamba is 20 years old and is from Kigoma. He wants to be a priest.
Saulo Enos John is 21 years old and is from Mwanza. He wants to become a priest. Robert Keith James Mabathane is 26 years old and is also from Mwanza. He would like to become a priest.
Gervas Isaya Gervas Kigoma is 21 years old and is from Kigoma. He would like to be a priest. John Daudi Kizimba is 21 years old and is from Geita. He would like to be a priest.
Philimon Elias John is from our Buhemba parish. He is 23 years old and would like to become a priest. Denis Mkaluka Constantine is 24 years old and is from Mwanza. He would like to become a priest.
George Maartine Kengaweta is 21 years old and is from our Buhemba Parish. He would like to become a priest. Peter Alex Mushi is 28 years old and is from Kilimanjaro. He would like to become a priest.
Brayan Theogenes Lugeiyamu is 24 years old and is from Mwanza. Edigadius Nyashiro Charles is 20 years old and is from Bunda. Brayan and Edigadius would like to become brothers in our Congregation.
