Novena to St. Mary Magdalene – Day 9

Mary Magdalene, Patroness of the Apostles of the Resurrection

The Apostles of the Resurrection invite you to pray with us a Novena to St. Mary Magdalene,
our Patron Saint, and the Apostle to the Apostles.

Day 9: Mary Magdalene, Patroness of the Apostles of the Resurrection

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Apostles of the Resurrection Handbook, pg. 7

Our mission as the Apostles of the Resurrection is to announce Christ’s Resurrection to the world by what we say and do, in all areas of our everyday life.  This is why St. Mary Magdalene is our patron saint.

Reflection:

Today is the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, Disciple of the Lord, Apostle to the Apostles, and Patron Saint of the Apostles of the Resurrection. The Apostles of the Resurrection is the lay association of the Congregation of the Resurrection in Canada and was formed to minister alongside the priests and brothers in the Congregation. The Apostles are called to live out the Resurrectionist Spirituality in their everyday lives, with their families and friends, at their work and at play, and to support the Congregation by helping with their various ministries and the needs of the Congregation. St. Mary Magdalene is an example to all Christians of how to live a simple and faithful life of service, putting aside her own desires to support the work of others in bringing Jesus’ love to all. Following her example, the Apostles of the Resurrection promise each year to make their lives signs of the transforming power of God’s love. Today, on St. Mary Magdalene’s Feast Day, may all Christians celebrate her immoveable faith, her unquenchable love for God, and her selfless ministry.

Prayer:

St. Mary Magdalene, you are an example to all Christians, but especially to the Apostles of the Resurrection.  Pray for us, that we may follow Jesus with your faithfulness and that we may always recognize God’s love in our lives.

We offer this Novena today for the Apostles of the Resurrection, and all who encounter them, that each one may be transformed by God’s love.
