Resurrection Gala 2024

On April 17, members of the Congregation of the Resurrection in Ontario
gathered for the first annual Resurrection Gala!
Resurrectionists, joined by Apostles of the Resurrection, Benefactors and Family and Friends of the Congregation, came together during this glorious Easter Season, to celebrate the joy, peace and transforming hope of the Resurrection of our Lord.
We gathered to reflect on the past and current ministries and services the Congregation provides and facilitates,
and to pray for the future; for vocations, for future ministries, for our mission to give witness to the Paschal Mystery and work for the salvation of each person and of society.
The evening began with Mass, Fr. Tim Uniac, CR, Provincial Superior, presiding, with many members of the Congregation concelebrating.
This year’s Gala was held at the beautiful Sacred Heart Parish in Kitchener, one of our Resurrectionist parishes.
We were blessed to be led in music ministry by the St. Louis Parish 11am Choir, and Apostles of the Resurrection shared in ministry by proclaiming the Word and the Universal Prayer.
Fr. Tim Uniac offered a homily exploring six elements of the Resurrection:
  • Resurrection gives us Hope
  • Through the Resurrection we are no longer afraid to die
  • Because of the Resurrection the Spirit of God lives within us
  • The Resurrection reminds us that God never stops loving us
  • The Resurrection defines our purpose
  • The Resurrection reveals the eternal life that awaits us
Following Mass we headed down to the Parish Hall for a wonderful supper, catered by Conestoga Catering.  It was a lovely time of fellowship with the Resurrectionist community!  Thank you to the Kitchener Knights of Columbus for helping serve as well!
To conclude the evening we were blessed to listen to our guest speaker, Msgr. Con O’Mahony, who spoke about the connection between the current Synodal journey of the Roman Catholic Church with the past, present and future of the Congregation of the Resurrection. It was an excellent talk, combining some great personal stories with inspiring insights into how the Congregation can and is leading the way for synodal changes in the Church.  Thank you Msgr. Con for bringing our evening together and leaving us with hope and joy for the future!
