The Generosity of Mercy
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells a parable of a forgiving master and an unforgiving servant. The forgiving master cancelled the debt of his servant who asked for mercy and patience, but this servant then showed no mercy to a fellow servant who owed him a much smaller amount.
Jesus wants us to emulate the generous master in how we forgive–because we have already been generously forgiven by God through Jesus Christ. How might God be calling you to express the generosity and mercy of God? In your time, your resources, your energy?
