The Miracles of Jesus

A Resurrectionist Vocation Minute for December 14, 3rd Sunday of Advent

The miracles of Jesus are quite clear in this Sunday’s gospel:

   “The blind regain their sight,
   the lame walk,
   lepers are cleansed,
   the deaf hear,
   the dead are raised,
and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.” (Matthew 11:5)

Even before Jesus did these things John the Baptist had an intuition that profound things were about to take place. In every generation there are people being born who do not know who Jesus is. Part of our vocation in life is to pray for the same intuition that John had so that we can help others to get excited about Jesus because he continues to have great things in store for us all.  In fact, some people are called to dedicate their lives in religious communities to the continued proclamation that Jesus has and will continue to perform miracles.  Miracles that change our world for the better and remind us of the joy that radiates from everyone who chooses to keep God at the centre of their lives.
