Fr. Evandro shifted to St. John Paul II Parish in Buhemba on Thursday, August 13 in order to finish his canonical visitation. Fr. Maciej Braun is the pastor and the director of the Resurrection pre-primary, primary and secondary schools. He is assisted by Br. Michael Mabuluga, C.R. The novitiate, under the direction of Fr. Andrzej Duda, C.R., is also located in Buhemba. The visitation was timed such that Fr. Evandro could welcome the nine postulants who were entering novitiate and could receive the first vows of the nine novices who were finishing novitiate.
The church was full of family, friends and parishioners as we celebrated this great day. After their profession of first vows, each young man put on their religious habit and received a copy of the Resurrectionist Constitutions and a cross.
The celebration continued after the Eucharist in the school hall. There was plenty of singing and dancing and eating!
The visitation continued as Fr. Evandro participated in the Sunday Eucharist on the day after the vow celebration. He was able to address the congregation with the help of Fr. Maciej’s translation skills.
Following Mass, Fr. Evandro and Fr. Jim were driven to Mwanza by Fr. Maciej so that they could catch their flight to Dar es Salaam early the next morning. Arriving in Dar es Salaam, Fr. Evandro departed early the next morning for Rome in order to prepare for the EGC meeting, and Fr. Jim departed later in the day for the U.S.A. for vacation. The canonical visitation lasted 23 days, punctuated by over 3,000 kilometers of travel by car, rail, and plane, and one set of lost luggage. In the course of this time, however, Fr. Evandro was able to meet with each of the 10 perpetually professed Resurrectionists, 34 of the men in initial formation, and even a few of the 10 men who are joining us as postulants this year.

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time – October 25, 2026
Although there are many details in Scripture, many commandments and liturgies, many Gifts of the Spirit and Works of Mercy, our entire history of faith can be simplified down to “Love God” and “Love your neighbour as yourself.” We humans always complicate things, when all God wants is for us to Love!

Universal Love
Christ commands us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Vocation is precisely this kind of total, unreserved surrender to love.
