The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated by Christians all around the world annually beginning on January 18 and ending on the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, January 25.
This year’s theme is “Do Good; Seek Justice”
One of the Resurrectionist parishes in Kitchener, St. Francis of Assisi, will be hosting an in-person prayer service, led by the Ecumenical Churches of Forest Hill:
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Ecumenical Churches of Forest Hill
This event will include participation from Calvin Presbyterian Church, Forest Hill United Church, Highland Baptist Church, St. George’s Anglican Church, and St. Steven’s Lutheran Church as well as our hosts St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. This year’s event has been adapted from the international program written by the Ecumenical Community in Minnesota concentrating on the current day descendants of enslaved African American and Indigenous peoples of Minnesota. The liturgy attempts to convey the emotions, struggles and hopes of a people considered apart from their communities. The theme of the program is based on Isaiah 1:17 “Do Good, Seek Justice”.
Sunday January 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
St. Francis of Assisi Parish (49 Blueridge Ave. Kitchener).
Free will offering will be accepted in support of the Anishnabeg Outreach Centre in Kitchener. Contact 519-745-7301 if you have questions. A small reception will conclude the service.
