Will You Follow Jesus Into the Unknown?
- Fr. Pawel Szymanowski, CR
- Luke 4: 1 - 13
A Resurrectionist Vocation Minute for March 9, 1st Sunday of Lent
Will you follow Jesus into the unknown?
Before beginning His ministry, Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where He faces temptation.
Discernment also involves being led into unknown places, trusting that God is guiding us. Religious life calls for surrender to the Spirit, allowing Him to shape us through prayer, sacrifice, and daily conversion.
Are you willing to let the Spirit lead you in your discernment and during this time of Lent?
“Our personal participation in the Paschal Mystery begins with our conversion, the acceptance of the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior, and our union with Him in Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist. However, our conversion is a dynamic, lifelong process. We will constantly die to self (self-will, self-love, self-activity) in order to rise by the power of the Holy Spirit to a new life of love in Christ. A similar life-long process is involved in our coming to know God’s unconditional love for each of us as the most fundamental fact of our lives. We experience our nothingness without God. We know the misery of our inherited weakness and corruption, which results from our personal sins. This know ledge leads to a new experience of God’s love, because He is ready to forgive and to come to our aid."
