20th Sunday in Ordinary Time – August 20, 2023

This gospel is one of the most difficult passages to understand! Jesus, who is concerned for the poor, the sick, and the outcast, seems to ignore or reject this woman in her need.

19th Sunday in Ordinary Time – August 13, 2023

The gospel depicts an extra-ordinary, supernatural, occurrence.  Jesus, in order to reunite with the disciples, who were fishing, came walking toward them on the water.

Transfiguration of the Lord – August 6, 2023

In today’s scripture readings Jesus is revealed very clearly as the link between human and divine.

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 30, 2023

I remember learning about similes and metaphors in Grade 9 English class. The teacher used Shakespeare as her model but this Sunday’s Gospel reading is rich in examples.

16th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 23, 2023

The parables about the mustard seed and the yeast stand against those who might be called “apocalyptists.”

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 16, 2023

The parable of the sower is well known to us.  I am sure that we can all identify with some of the realities in that gospel.

14th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 9, 2023

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 2, 2023

“Whoever receives you receives me”.  What a powerful affirmation of God’s connection to each and every one of us.

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time – June 25, 2023

I write this reflection in Rome during the 34th General Chapter of the Congregation of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

11th Sunday in Ordinary Time – June 18, 2023

Jesus, in His wisdom, chose twelve disciples to become his apostles.  He would share with them His life, and eventually His ministry.

We acknowledge, with respect, that Resurrection College and Resurrection Manor reside and operate on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our facility is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land Frederick Haldimand granted to the Haudenosaunee of the Six Nations of the Grand River in 1784 that includes 10 kilometers on both sides of the Grand River and extends from its source to Lake Erie.

We give thanks for the privilege to work and live on this land, and we are committed to building respectful relationships with Indigenous People and communities, to enhance our knowledge, and learn how we can have an active role in reconciliation.
