We interrupt our visit to the Maasai so we can bring you Easter greetings from Tanzania! More on the Maasai visit will be coming in a few weeks.
We started the Easter Triduum on Holy Thursday evening with a celebration for Livinus, who celebrated his birthday. In Tanzania, they also celebrate the ordination of priests on this day, so I joined Livinus as “the guests of honor.”
Of course, we had the customary celebratory food: ice cream! It looks like we have four gallons—which would be no problem for us to eat—but they played a trick on me because the last two were empty!
The seminarians worked hard on Saturday morning to get the chapel ready for Easter Sunday. Here, Mario has our new Paschal Candle.
Linus and Lameck are preparing the background for the sanctuary with the help of Edison at ground level.
The Blessed Sacrament Sisters joined us. We had some great singing on Easter Sunday morning, with Petro directing …

Easter Preparation and Celebration
Our preparations for Easter began early in Lent with our twice-a-week choir practice. This year, among other hymns, the seminarians were practicing Handell’s “Alleluia Chorus.”
