On May 1, 4 of our seminarians received the Ministry of Acolyte and 2 of our seminarians received the Ministry of Lector. These ministries are steps on the path to ordination to priesthood. The ceremony took place in the chapel at Jordan University College, presided over by Bishop Lazarus of the Diocese of Morogoro.
Selestine Matutu, C.R. (2nd year Theology) received the Ministry of Acolyte.
Francis Peter, C.R. (2nd year Theology) received the Ministry of Acolyte.
Petro Kushaha, C.R. (2nd year Theology) received the Ministry of Acolyte.
Gervas Sililo, C.R. (2nd year Theology) received the Ministry of Acolyte.
Mario Rutajula, C.R. (3rd year Theology) received the Ministry of Acolyte.
Valentino Chatanda, C.R. (1st year Theology) received the Ministry of Lector.
Livinus Galeba, C.R. (1st year Theology) received the Ministry of Lector.
There was time for photos after the ceremony. All those who received ministries were congratulated by classmates, friends, and members of our community who participated in the liturgy.
Our plan was to meet back at the Formation House afterwards to celebrate with dinner. Our cooks, Maria and Pendo, made a special dinner. We also ordered a cake and, of course, had two kinds of ice cream for dessert!
We were all very proud of our seminarians who received ministries this day. Additionally, Emmanuel Ntula, C.R. (4th year Theology) received special recognition from Bishop Lazarus—for the second year in a row—for his work leading the liturgy committee at Jordan University College. We have a saying in our Formation House: “When one rises up, we all rise up!” So, we rose to great heights on this day.

The day ended with soda and a football game on television.
