It is with deep sadness that the Congregation of the Resurrection announces the passing of a long time employee Mrs. Barbara Diemert on Tuesday, January 15th. Over the years Barb made a lasting contribution to our ministries, in particular Celebrating the Word. Barb’s welcoming smile, laughter, energy and enthusiasm will be greatly missed by all.
Please see below for a special tribute written by Fr. Fred Scinto, C.R.
Barbara Diemert was a really good and deeply Catholic/Christian woman; her Catholicism was great, deep, and universal. She was astute and had a great deal of common sense; moreover, she intelligently could appraise reality very well, so much so that her faith had a lot of impact on the world. In addition, she was a good problem solver with a good sense of humour and joy that was truly scriptural. Barb was always generous and did more work at Resurrection Centre than she had to do; in all the years she was at the Centre with Father Frank Ruetz, C.R., and myself, it is amazing to look back and note all the work she did for the new ministries that were developed through the Centre including Celebrating the Word.
Moreover, Barbara ran not only the Centre’s office very well but she had an excellent understanding of ministerial community and ministerial team. She gave many years of unstinting hard work for God’s cause. Most often this work centred on the Word of God to which Barbara gave her full attention and concentration: in short, she hungered for this Word.
Without Barbara’s central focus on the Word, I could not have done all that I did in our area of new ministries. Her love of God and God’s Kin_dom were so strong that she made my ministry easier to undertake. At times, she also dug up some research sources applicable to my ministry. I also found Barbara very encouraging in respect to my own ministries; she often lifted me up when I was down and discouraged.
May the Risen One grant Barbara the fullness of eternal life. Amen!
